Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who is the intended audience?
Interlibrary loan personnel in Maryland,
D.C., and surrounding states may find this organization and its web page
helpful and informative. If you are seeking information on how to borrow
a book through an interlibrary loan service, please refer to your local
public or affiliated university library.
- What are the benefits of membership in MAILL?
New members receive a copy of the MAILL
publication, "Resource Guide for New Interlibrary Loan Personnel",
revised 2000. Also, you will be added to the group’s listserv, md-ill,
which is a closed informational and discussion list. The greatest benefit
comes from our quarterly meetings, held at different locations across the
state. Meetings focus on varied topics such as ILL management software,
document delivery vendors, web resources, and the impact of distance education
and off-site patrons on ILL services.
- How do I become a member of MAILL?
There is a $15 individual membership fee
to join MAILL. This fee offsets the cost of mailings, refreshments, and
underwrites the cost of our summer all-day meeting and luncheon. Please
click on Membership, then click on Application Form and follow the instructions.
- What other topics are covered on this site?
MAILL is dedicated to sharing information
on subjects that concern ILL personnel. Included on this web site is the
section Resources. There you will
find information on copyright, verification sources, lists of web sites
and discussions lists, ILL-related publications, and more. We encourage
feedback on this dynamic page so that we can maintain it as an up-to-date
resource.
Please feel free to e-mail any of the members of the Executive Board to obtain more information.
